MESA recruits students at PSU to provide support to MESA program advisors, and these students commit to helping at each weekly meeting for the school throughout the year, in addition to MESA Day if possible. Similar opportunities are available to members of the public who are interested in providing support to MESA programs in their communities. These volunteers must be able to commit to attending MESA chapter meetings regularly, be willing to establish mentor-mentee relationships with students, and have some experience in education or a science/engineering-related job. Screening for these opportunities is typically more in-depth as you will work directly with students, often one-on-one. While this opportunity is more intensive and time-consuming, it also provides volunteers with an opportunity to create meaningful and long-lasting relationships with students.
Long-term Volunteer Process
